About Steam Plains

Steam Plains is a sparsely populated rural locality in the Edward River Council area of the Riverina in New South Wales, about 35 km north of Conargo. The locality takes its name from the historic Steam Plains run, bought by Lewis Kiddle in 1874, whose Merino flock became famous, and today carries the large Steam Plains Station, one of the biggest sheep properties in the region.
