About Coree

Coree is a rural community in the central Riverina of New South Wales, about 43 kilometres west of Jerilderie. Its name may derive from an Aboriginal word meaning charcoal. The settlement had a post office from 1875 to 1892, and a Coree football club played in the Southern Riverina competition between the wars. The area today is sparsely settled farming and grazing country.
