About Clybucca
Clybucca is a rural locality on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, situated about 15 to 20 kilometres north of Kempsey in the Macleay Valley. The area covers river flat and hinterland country on the Collombatti-Clybucca floodplain, and the Clybucca Historic Site protects part of the Clybucca-Stuarts Point midden complex, one of the largest estuarine Aboriginal midden complexes in temperate Australia. Shell and bone remains in the midden date back 2,500 to 6,000 years, and the site is of deep cultural significance to the Gumbaynggirr and Dunghutti peoples.
