About Woronora Dam

Woronora Dam is a heritage-listed concrete gravity dam on the Woronora River in the Sutherland Shire, about 50 kilometres south of Sydney. Built between 1927 and 1941, it supplies drinking water to the Sutherland Shire and northern Wollongong suburbs from a largely untouched bushland catchment protected as a restricted-access Special Area. The dam was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register in 1999.
