About Gerringong
Gerringong is a town on the New South Wales south coast in the Illawarra region, between Kiama and Nowra. The name is thought to derive from a Dharawal Aboriginal word meaning 'fearful place'. Red cedar cutters were the first Europeans in the area from 1814, and dairy farming, which began as the cedar was logged out, remains the district's main industry; a small boat harbour once exported cedar and dairy produce.
