About Coniston
Coniston is a suburb of Wollongong in New South Wales, just north of the Port Kembla Steelworks. It includes Greenhouse Park, an old waste depot and landfill that has been rehabilitated since the 1990s into a community green space with wetlands, home to the endangered green and golden bell frog. The hill known as The Overseer offers a lookout over the city and Port Kembla, and the suburb is home to Coniston Football Club, winners of the Illawarra Premier League grand finals in 1981, 2001 and 2023.
