About Broughton Village

Broughton Village is a locality on the border of the Kiama and Shoalhaven council areas in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, on Broughton Creek beside the Princes Highway, about 18 kilometres south-west of Kiama. It is named after Broughton, a Dharawal man who guided early British colonists in the area. Subdivided as a township in the 1850s, it never grew beyond a school, two churches and farm residences.
