About Widden
Widden is a remote rural locality in the Muswellbrook Shire, occupying a spectacular sandstone valley in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales. The locality is renowned as one of Australia's most important thoroughbred horse-breeding districts. Widden Stud, operated by the Thompson family since 1867, is among the oldest family-owned commercial horse studs in the world, and the valley's name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning stay here.
