About Watagan
Watagan is a rural locality in the City of Cessnock in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, located in the foothills of the Watagan Mountains about 110 kilometres north of Sydney. Part of the Great Dividing Range between the Hunter and Central Coast, the area features ancient rainforests, towering cedars, and moss-covered boulders adjacent to Watagans National Park, which offers bushwalking, mountain biking, and panoramic lookouts with views across the Hunter Valley. The locality is a haven for lyrebirds and wallabies and forms part of the Great North Walk.
