About Singleton Heights
Singleton Heights is a residential suburb located to the north of the Singleton town centre in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, approximately 85 kilometres northwest of Newcastle and 200 kilometres from Sydney. Situated on elevated terrain above the Hunter River floodplain, the suburb takes its name from the town of Singleton, which was itself named after Benjamin Singleton, an early European explorer who first settled the area in the 1820s. The traditional custodians of the land are the Wonnarua people. Singleton Heights features local amenities including a public school, sports centre, and parks, and lies within close proximity to the Singleton Golf Club and the Hunter Valley wine region. The area is supported by coal mining and agricultural industries, and is traversed by the New England Highway.
