About Goorangoola

Goorangoola is a sparsely settled rural locality in the Singleton area of the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, about 30 kilometres from Singleton. Goorangoola Creek, a 39-kilometre waterway, runs the complete length of the valley, supporting beef cattle grazing on creek flats rising to open hill country. The name is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning "big kangaroo," and St Columba's Anglican Church, with a cemetery dating from the 1880s, is a landmark of the valley.
