About Bolwarra (NSW)
Bolwarra is a suburb of Maitland in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia, located on the western bank of the Hunter River. Its name derives from the Wonnarua word meaning "a flash of light", and the area is on Wonnarua Country. Known as the "food bowl of Sydney" for its lucerne, vegetables, and dairy, Bolwarra features the historic Bolwarra House (c.1830), Victorian and Federation-era homes, and levee banks for flood protection.
