About Tilpa

Tilpa is a tiny town on the Darling River in the Far West of New South Wales, about 917 km north-west of Sydney. In its heyday it was an important river port, with paddle steamers delivering supplies to sheep stations and carrying bales of wool downriver. The Tilpa Hotel, built in 1894 and considered one of the last true bush pubs, has walls covered with messages left by travellers in return for donations to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
