About Narromine
Narromine is a rural town on the Macquarie River in the Central West of New South Wales, about 40 kilometres west of Dubbo on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people. Known as a place where flying legends have taken off for over a century, it is home to Australia's oldest regional aero club, a World War II RAAF flying training school site and an aviation museum, and its strong thermals make it one of the world's leading gliding locations. The town was gazetted in 1883 after the railway arrived and is the birthplace of cricketer Glenn McGrath.
