About Goonoo Forest
Goonoo Forest is a rural locality in central-western New South Wales, north-east of Dubbo, named for the large tract of ironbark and white cypress pine woodland that covers it. The forest was settled by colonists from the 1830s, logged for timber from the 1850s, managed as a State Forest from 1917, and partly reserved as Goonoo National Park in December 2005.
