About Coonamble

Coonamble is a town on the central-western plains of New South Wales, on the Castlereagh Highway 95 km north-west of Gilgandra and 115 km south-east of Walgett. It is the regional hub for wheat growing and sheep and wool production, and hosts an annual rodeo drawing around 1,000 competitors. The town's name comes from a Gamilaraay word meaning having much dung.
