About Baradine
Baradine is a small town in the Warrumbungle Shire of north-western New South Wales, about 46 kilometres north-west of Coonabarabran, on the road to Pilliga. It lies beside Baradine Creek, which flows from the Warrumbungles. The name is thought to derive from an Aboriginal word for red wallaby. The village was proclaimed in 1865 on a former pastoral run, and a railway line reached the town in 1923.
