About Urunga
Urunga is a coastal town in the Bellingen district of northern New South Wales, at the confluence of the Bellinger and Kalang rivers, in the country of the Gumbaynggirr people. Proclaimed a village in 1894, it grew as a timber port and its beach remains popular with surfers. The Urunga Boardwalk, more than a kilometre long, crosses river flats and mangroves and is regarded as one of the best coastal walks in the state.
