About Ramornie
Ramornie is a large, sparsely populated rural locality in the Clarence Valley of New South Wales, situated along the Orara River about 20 kilometres north-west of Grafton. Ramornie Station was the first cattle run on the Clarence River, taken up in 1839, and the Ramornie Meatworks operated from 1866 processing up to 35,000 cattle annually into canned meat for export. The locality lends its name to the prestigious Ramornie Handicap horse race held annually at Grafton Racecourse.
