About Freeburn Island

Freeburn Island is a locality on an island in the Clarence River estuary near Yamba on the north coast of New South Wales. Named after Francis Freeburn, the first pilot of Yamba, the island was the terminus of the Angourie quarry railway in the 1890s, built to carry stone for the river's training walls.
