About Ulan
Ulan is a small village in the Central West of New South Wales, located about 41 kilometres north of Mudgee and 25 kilometres northwest of Gulgong. The locality sits on the western edge of the Sydney Basin and is known for its coal mining, with the Sandy Hollow–Ulan Railway originally built to serve the mine. The railway was later extended to connect with lines at Gulgong, providing an alternative route across the Great Dividing Range.
