About Tambaroora
Tambaroora is a locality in the Mid-Western Regional Council area of the Central West of New South Wales, just north of the historic gold-mining town of Hill End. It was once a substantial gold-rush township on the Tambaroora goldfield; as mining moved south to the quartz reefs of Hill End, the town declined to a near-ghost town. The locality retains mining remnants such as the Quartz Roasting Pits and Tambaroora Creek Dam, and has a designated fossicking area.
