About Lake Burrendong
Lake Burrendong is a locality in the central west of New South Wales, around the large reservoir of the same name created by Burrendong Dam on the Macquarie River, about 30 kilometres south-east of Wellington. The dam, completed in 1965 and opened in 1967, impounds the Macquarie and Cudgegong rivers for flood mitigation, irrigation and water supply, and the gold-mining village of Burrendong lies beneath its waters.
