About Forbes (NSW)

Forbes is a town in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia, on the banks of the Lachlan River and the Newell Highway between Parkes and West Wyalong. Traditionally home to the Wiradjuri people, the town boomed when gold was discovered in 1861, and is probably named after Sir Francis Forbes, first Chief Justice of NSW.
