About Winifred

Winifred is a small rural locality in the Snowy Monaro Regional Council area of New South Wales, located approximately 30 kilometres from Cooma in the Southern Tablelands. The area is characterised by broad-acre farms and grazing properties at elevations around 700 metres above sea level. The locality lies within the traditional lands of the Ngarigo people and was settled by pastoralists in the 1830s as part of the broader Monaro grazing district.
