About Kangiara
Kangiara is a locality in the Yass Valley Council local government area, within the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia, about 32 kilometres north-west of Yass. A mining village of the same name grew up around the Kangiara Copper Mine, which produced copper, lead, silver and gold from 1907 to 1918 after small-scale mining from as early as 1903. The village, proclaimed in September 1909, at one point had a population of about 500, a school, a post office and a police station; today only the former general store, some houses and mine ruins remain.
