About Gundaroo

Gundaroo is a small village in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, in the Yass Valley Council area, on the upper reaches of the Yass River. European settlement began in the 1820s, and the village, gazetted in 1847, retains many 19th-century buildings of slab, wattle-and-daub, stone and locally fired brick, including the Royal Hotel (1865) and the Colonial Inn (1872). It is a National Trust-classified historic village, and its town common, gazetted in 1870, is one of the few functioning town commons left in New South Wales.
