About Durran Durra
Durran Durra is a locality in the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council area of New South Wales, on the road from Braidwood to Nowra about 15 kilometres north of Braidwood and 100 kilometres east of Canberra. It consists mainly of grazing country and lies on the traditional lands of the Walbanga people, a group of the Yuin. In 1827 James Ryrie took up land in the area under a grant authorised by Governor Darling, and a half-time school operated at Durran Durra at various times between 1872 and 1921.
