About Coila

Coila is a small rural locality on the South Coast of New South Wales, about 14 to 16 kilometres from Moruya within the Eurobodalla Shire. The locality is dominated by Coila Lake, a large shallow coastal lagoon classified as an intermittently closed and opened lake or lagoon, separated from the Tuross River Estuary by a narrow ridge. The lake supports an important prawn fishing industry, habitat for migratory shorebirds including the critically endangered Far Eastern Curlew, and the heritage-listed Lakeview Homestead complex built in 1863.
