About Bredbo
Bredbo is a village on the Monaro plains of New South Wales, on the Monaro Highway about 34 km north of Cooma, at the junction of the Bredbo and Murrumbidgee rivers. It grew around the Bredbo Inn, established by 1839 as a Cobb and Co stagecoach post, and was proclaimed a village in 1888 after gold was found along the Bredbo River. The poet Banjo Paterson is said to have met the stockman Charlie McKeahnie here, a likely inspiration for The Man From Snowy River.
