About Bena

Bena is a small historic rural village in South Gippsland, approximately 100 kilometres south-east of Melbourne and 8 kilometres from Korumburra. Settled in the late 1870s when the area was heavily timbered temperate rainforest, the town takes its name from an Aboriginal word thought to describe the lyrebird, once common in the district.
