About Barunah Park

Barunah Park is a rural locality in the Geelong region of Victoria, located about 30 kilometres west of Geelong and 100 kilometres west-southwest of Melbourne in the Shire of Golden Plains. The fertile basalt plains with flat pastoral country defined by sheep and cattle grazing feature dry stone walls and heritage woolsheds dotting the sweeping open pastoral land. Named after the historic Barunah Plains homestead, one of the grand pastoral estates of the Western District, the Barunah Plains Estate was established as a soldier settlement in 1958 with the community precinct including a hall and reserve developed in the mid-1950s when the Russell family donated 10 acres of land.
