About Bellata
Bellata is a small village in Narrabri Shire in north-central New South Wales, about 47 kilometres north of Narrabri on the Newell Highway. The place name is thought to derive from an Aboriginal word meaning "kangaroo" or possibly "home of belar trees". The surrounding black-soil farmland supports broadacre cropping, and the district is a fossicking destination for agate and jasper.
