About West Holleton

West Holleton is a remote rural locality in the Shire of Narembeen of the Wheat Belt region of Western Australia, located about 298 kilometres east of Perth at approximately 458 metres elevation. The landscape features flat to gently undulating wheatbelt country primarily cleared for broadacre agriculture, with grain cropping of wheat, barley, and oats alongside sheep grazing. The broader Holleton area was the site of gold discoveries in 1924 by Alf Heaton and Joe Hollows, leading to a small gold rush with mines including the Great Beacon and Glenelg Queen, and the nearby Neendojer Nature Reserve protects habitat for malleefowl and other threatened species.
