About Parker Range
Parker Range is a locality in the Shire of Yilgarn in Western Australia's eastern goldfields, south-east of the town of Southern Cross. It is named for the range where prospector William Parker located gold in the late 1880s, one of the earliest discoveries in the Southern Cross district, after which the Parker Range Company developed a mine on the reef in the early 1890s. The locality covers part of the Yilgarn greenstone belt that sustained the region's subsequent gold mining.
