About Jitarning

Jitarning is a locality in the Shire of Kulin in Western Australia's Wheatbelt region, located approximately 22 kilometres south of the town of Kulin. The name derives from Geetaring soak, where pastoralist Michael Brown established a base camp before the townsite was gazetted in 1917 following the construction of the Merredin to Yilliminning railway line. The nearby presence of water sources originally drew settlers to the area.
