About Tjukurla
Tjukurla is a remote Aboriginal community in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands of Western Australia, situated on the edge of Lake Hopkins halfway between Warakurna in WA and Kintore in the NT. Established in the early 1980s as part of the homeland movement, the community was formed by Yarnangu people returning to their traditional lands and plays a key role in preserving Ngaanyatjarra cultural heritage.
