About Kupartiya

Kupartiya is a small Aboriginal community in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, located approximately 130 kilometres south-east of Fitzroy Crossing within the Shire of Halls Creek. Established in the early 1980s by stockman Eric Lawford, the community was formed by Aboriginal families who returned to traditional lands near Bohemia Downs Station following forced relocations from Christmas Creek Station after the 1968 Pastoral Award decision. Kupartiya lies within the Gooniyandi native title area.
