About Jigalong

Jigalong is a remote Aboriginal community in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, approximately 165 kilometres east of Newman on the western edge of the Little Sandy Desert. Established in 1907 as a maintenance depot for the Rabbit-proof fence, it became home to Molly Craig whose 1,600 kilometre trek from the Moore River Native Settlement back to Jigalong was immortalised in the book and film Rabbit-Proof Fence.
