About Kalamunda

Kalamunda, from the Noongar word meaning "home in the forest," is a residential suburb about 25 km east of Perth's CBD on the Darling Scarp at around 250 to 300 metres elevation. Surrounded by jarrah and marri forests with neighbouring semi-rural orchard-growing areas, it is known for its cooler, wetter climate, village-style town centre and the scenic Zig Zag drive along the old Upper Darling Range railway route. Kalamunda National Park, the Kalamunda History Village and access to the Bibbulmun Track are notable landmarks.
