About Parkerville
Parkerville is a leafy suburb in the Shire of Mundaring in Perth, Western Australia, through which Jane Brook flows on its way to the Swan River via John Forrest National Park. Named after prominent Perth legal figure Stephen Henry Parker whose country home is now the Old Mahogany Inn, the suburb was opened for selection in June 1895 and was one of the first stations on the railway line between Bellevue and Mount Helena opening in 1896. In 1903 Sister Kate Clutterbuck purchased land for the League of Charity Home for children, which became the well-known Parkerville Children's Home. The former railway route is now the Railway Reserve Heritage Trail. The suburb is home to the Parkerville Amphitheatre and was affected by the January 2014 Perth Hills bushfire.
