About Midvale
Midvale is a suburb of Perth split between the City of Swan and the Shire of Mundaring, located approximately 17 kilometres east-northeast of the Perth central business district. Developed in the early 1950s, the name is a portmanteau of Midland and the former Helena Vale Racecourse which was established in 1897 with horse racing continuing at the site until 1969 before it became a light industrial precinct. The Planning Institute of Australia awarded an excellence award in community-based planning for the Eastern Horizons New Living Project redevelopment in 2002. The suburb is bounded by Great Eastern Highway to the south and the Eastern Railway line to the east, with the Indian Pacific railway passing along its border.
