About Port Campbell
Port Campbell is a resort and crayfishing port facing Bass Strait in western Victoria, on the Great Ocean Road midway between Cape Otway and Warrnambool. The inlet and town are named after Alexander Campbell, a whaler and trader who sheltered there during a storm in about 1843. Settlement followed in the 1870s, and today the town is a base for visiting the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and other landmarks of the Shipwreck Coast, within the adjacent Port Campbell National Park.
