About Grassmere

Grassmere is a rural locality in the Shire of Moyne, located approximately 15 kilometres north of Warrnambool in south-western Victoria. The district was taken up as a pastoral property in 1839, and in 1842 Thomas Manifold named his run Grasmere after the village in England's Lake District. The area remains a productive grazing and dairying district, with the Grassmere Cheese and Butter Factory operating from 1888 to 1966.
