About Echuca Village

Echuca Village is a rural locality on the banks of the Murray River in northern Victoria, situated approximately six kilometres east of the township of Echuca and 200 kilometres north of Melbourne. Established in 1892 on the former Echuca grazing common, the village was an early irrigated farming settlement linked to the paddle steamer era when nearby Echuca was one of Australia's most important inland river ports. The area is characterised by low-density rural housing, irrigated horticulture and proximity to the historic Port of Echuca precinct.
