About Botanic Ridge
Botanic Ridge is a suburb of Melbourne about 45 km south-east of the central business district in the City of Casey, created in 2009 from land that was part of Cranbourne South. It is named after the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria at Cranbourne, a garden specialising in Australian native plants that borders the suburb, which opened to the public in 1989 on a site formerly used for sand-mining. Housing development in the suburb has grown steadily since the metropolitan urban growth boundary moved in 2009.
