About Shady Creek
Shady Creek is a rural district in the Baw Baw Shire of Victoria's West Gippsland region, on the road between Yarragon and Darnum. Its early history includes a reported gold find in 1851, and by the 1860s it was a coaching stop on the Melbourne to Sale road, where the Drover's Rest hotel supplied horses for Cobb and Co. The local school, hall and cemetery sit at the junction of the Yarragon and Darnum roads.
