About Licola
Licola is a small village beside the Macalister River in the Victorian high country, about 254 kilometres east of Melbourne at the southern gateway to the Alpine National Park. It began as a sawmilling settlement, and after the mill closed in the 1960s the whole town was bought by the Lions Clubs of Victoria and New South Wales and converted into the Licola Wilderness Village, a youth camp. Licola is the only Victorian town not connected to the mains electricity grid.
