About Ellinbank

Ellinbank is a farming district in the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges, about 11 kilometres south of Warragul and 113 kilometres east of Melbourne. Originally called Warragul South, it took its name from a property, Ellen Bank, named for the settler's first wife. Sawmills worked the forested hills from the 1880s, and as the land was cleared it turned to dairying, with a state dairy research station established here in 1950.
