About Buln Buln

Buln Buln is a small town in West Gippsland, Victoria, situated approximately 8 kilometres north of Warragul. The name derives from the Woiwurrung-Taungurung word for the superb lyrebird, and the town sits on the Old Sale Road, the original Gippsland track that predates the regional centres of Drouin and Warragul. A post office opened as Brandy Creek in 1873 and was renamed Buln Buln in 1874, and the Buln Buln railway station operated from 1890 to 1958 as part of the Noojee line.
